How to Keep, Change or Set your Own Profile DIsplay Photo (Avatar) on Orkut!

The first thing we notice on a Orkut profile is it’s display picture or so called Avatar. Avatar is like the identity card of a profile, so you can play with it to make more colourful, attractive and unique. There are a lots of sites on web, providing free display pictures for your profiles. Just make a Google search on “Avatar” and you will find a loads of them to choose from. Let me come back to the topic. Topic is about steps to change or keep a new display picture on your profile. This is a tutorial post for newbies who find it very difficult to change their display pictures.

Orkut profile photo or profile display picture or Orkut avatar or Orkut main photo, they might call it anything, but this is the picture that appears in the top left side of your profile and works as your identity card. If you want to stand out, you may either keep your own photo, any cartoon or actors picture. If you have not kept a picture yet, follow the below steps to change the current one and upload a new one.

1. Login to your Orkut profile.
2. Click on Edit (it’s located in the left sidebar)
3. Click on Change Photo option (It’s there just below your profile picture)
4. Browse a photo from your computer and click upload
5. After uploading, Orkut will create a friendly surface to edit your photo (Corp your image)
6. Click on Corp to use the edited image or you may hit the Use original button
7. Now your uploaded and edited image should appear as your profile display picture
8. You are done.

Here are some basic rules that you and your display picture should follow.

• Orkut allows photos with .jpg, .bmp and .gif extensions only.
• Maximum photo size should not be more than 10 MB.
• Images containing cartoons, celebrity, nudity, artwork or copyrights are not allowed.
• Image size should be equal to or more than 32*32 pixels.

That’s it. Follow the above steps and rules to change and keep new display pictures on your profile in future.
